Nepal Animal Welfare and Research Center (NAWRC) established in 8th June, 2013 A.D. with the aim to protect animals and promote scientific research for their welfare, is registered as a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization with Office of Company Registrar. It started working for animals initially inside the Kathmandu Valley to develop the concept of animal rights and welfare. Visualizing the ample of welfare organization in Kathmandu valley and scarce of love for animals outside it; fosters us to relocate our organization in Banepa, Kavrepalanchowk as a main serving point.
Banepa, a business hub located 30 KMs east of Kathmandu, Nepal, is a suburb within Araniko Highway serving as a prominent gateway to most eastern districts through Mid-Hill highway as well as B.P. Highway creates immense business as well as transport opportunities. Abundant food and dwelling opportunities through human activities leads to increment in the strays and creating problems of their kind. Meanwhile Banepa Municipality was using inhumane killing as the only way to reduce stray dog management. As NAWRC start working, we controlled municipality's act of killing strays and show them the ways of controlling their population through spay, neuter as well as reducing risk of rabies through Mass Anti Rabies Vaccination works. Now we barely see the pups in the streets of Banepa and there are rare occurrences of Rabies cases.
After Banepa, we worked with Dhulikhel and Panauti Municipalities which borders Banepa to reduce dog population through humane intervention in whole Banepa Valley. Now-a-days NAWRC proudly work with all interested municipals whole around Nepal.
