Anti-rabies Vaccination and Spaying Campaign

Rabies is the fetal disease. It is contagious diseases that is transmitted to human body from saliva of infected animals. Mostly, human get infected of Rabies with the dog bite and majority of dog bite case is seen in children. Rabies to human community is the big challenge of the world. Some developed countires have adopted very scientifice methods to control dog population and rabies. Asia, Africa and some parts of Europe, are the host of Global Rabies Threat. In South East Asia; Nepal, China, India have high density of street dog population and they are considered as the highly infected nations. Nepal and Nepalese people are living under the high risk of Rabies because no proper vaccination systems, lack of quality vaccines, illiteracy and ignorance of people, irresponsible ownership, no proper rules and regulations on pet and animal ownership and many more… Major reasons of over-breeding population in these nations can be categorized into three points:- A. High Breeding (High Fertility and Low Death Rate):- Good Habitat, Comparatively Favorable Environment and Good Feeding are the main cause of high fertility in canine population in the street of Nepal. Besides, unmanaged garbage, long fertility span, low mortality rate are also causing the growth of street dog numbers. Now, our research have shown that a female dog can give birth to 20 puppies in three liters in a year and out of which, >12 turns to adult and matured! B. Irresponsible Ownerships (No single owner):- Approximately 80 percent of the total dog population in Nepal are un-owned or have no single owner. Pets are adopted for certain time (mostly in case of local breeds) and abandoned in street after few months or a year. Government have no legal policy on ownership of pets (dogs and cats) and there is no proper system of data and information systems. Who is the real owner and who abandoned the dogs in street after adopting, is the question which have no answer! C. Lack of Awareness and Proper Information Systems: - People are unaware of pet caring systems, medications and vaccination cycle, diseases and prevention (cure), ownership identifications and its advantages, health reports updates, etc. So, to build up the awareness in animal care, compassionate society and human-animal friendly society, ownerships and data updates, etc. are our concern. What we Do? 1. We organize mass anti-rabies vaccination campaigns for Rabies Eradications. 2. We organize neutering campaigns with collaborations to local government and organizations. 3. We aware and facilitate people on caring the pets and animals. 4. We guide community to be responsible on Rabies Prevention and create compassionate environments for human-animal healthy life. 5. We organize mass awareness, collage and school awareness programs for Animal Rights and Welfare. We give presentations on pet ownerships, pet care and other information related to street and ownerless dogs. 6. We mobilize and lobby local governance, local community, youth society, clubs and social groups for establishing human-animal friendly environments.
