CNVR Campaign in District Livestock Service Office (DLSO) Kavrepalanchok Nepal Animal Welfare and Research Center (NAWRC) with collaboration to District Livestock Service Office at Dhulikhel organized a Dog Population Management and Anti-Rabies Vaccination Campaign at Dhulikhel Municipality. The program was organized from 13th of June to 20th of June, 2016. DLSO Kavre provided their vehicle and office for the surgeries during the program.

In 5 working days, we were able to neuter and vaccinate 53 street dogs. In Dhulikhel Municipality, our survey shows 50-50% of male:female population and the density per 100 people were observed to be 8 dogs. The street dogs roaming in the city around peoples were never vaccinated and medically treated.

Public participations were observed in high level and they supported us locating the dogs, catching them and bringing them to ambulance. We castrated 34 males and spayed 19 female dogs during the program.

Two dogs from Ward No. 1, Fifteen dogs from Ward No. 2, Twenty two dogs from Ward No. 3 and Fourteen dogs from Ward No. 5 were served during the program. Post operative follow ups were done for three days and all the dogs operated were healthy.

The program was sucessful to give a message to public about the benefits of Animal Birth Control (ABC) and avoid poisoning on dogs for their population control. Before the program was conducted, people were demanding municipalities to poison the dogs as they created various threats on threats to human.

We also share "ABC Education and CNVR benefits in own locality" to veterinary technician students from Technical and Vocational School (TVS), Banepa. Fourty students from current batch participate and observe the surgery with essential knowledge shared to them.

Surgeons Dr Ganesh Banjara and Dr Ekata Pandey were involved during the campaign. Sujan Timalsina assisted the surgery and preparations, Shiva Kunwar served as an anasthetics cum preparations and Sujan Bhandari the all-rounder (involved in anasthetics, logistics and preparations).
